Choosing Between Remodeling inside or outside of home

You are probably wondering where would be a good place to start if you were going to remodel your house. In this article I will explain the pros and cons of each remodel. We have all been there, maybe you want to remodel your driveway or maybe you just want to remodel the kitchen, but what do you choose? There are pros and cons to each but there are also beneficial values in terms of comfort in any phase of the projects. When you decide to remodel your home, privacy would be limited due to work in your backyard, especially the inside of the house. So grab some plastic plates and plastic spoons because this might get messy!

  1. Pros Of Remodeling the kitchen: We all have been there, when the sink clogs and the cabinets look too old and you feel like you are in the 1970’s. Maybe you just want to remodel your kitchen to make it look nice or maybe you are remodeling your kitchen to impress yourself and family when they come over. There are many benefits when it comes to remodeling your kitchen such as a new feel to the house and also your own unique style to the kitchen. Let’s be honest with each other, we almost spend more time inside the house than outside right? The kitchen is the top living area in our house where we spend the most time cooking and eating so it makes sense to remodel your kitchen. Kitchen remodels typically happen during the early or late stages of August or September, right before the holidays. Kitchen remodels can typically last anywhere from two weeks to three months depending how big the kitchen is. Just imagine how your family and friends will react when they see your brand new kitchen! 1.  Cons of Remodeling the kitchen: There are pros but many cons as well for remodeling a kitchen. The worst times to remodel a kitchen would be in the summer because of how hot it could be especially inside. I wouldn’t recommend turning on the AC inside especially during the demo phase of the project. The windows are going to be open as well as the doors and there will be cutting and breaking. Another con for remodeling your kitchen instead of the outside is privacy. So when you remodel your home, especially the backyard or front, there is a little privacy inside your home. Now, when you remodel the inside of your home such as the kitchen, there won’t be as much privacy like you are used to. I saw homeowners go to their families houses to eat because they had nowhere to sit inside their home. I also recommend buying a lot of paper plates and plastic forks and spoons because there won’t be a dishwasher there due to the remodel. Expect to have so much loud noises especially when the project has started. This included removal of the cabinets, tile, wall, and much more. Another con would be the cost of remodeling your kitchen, the typical complete remodel can run you $30,000 to $150,000 depending on the size of your kitchen and materials. Backyard remodels can be around that same price spectrum to a little bit lower. So choose wisely!
  1. Pros Of Remodeling the bathroom: It’s easy to say that we all love a good shower, especially after a hard working day at our jobs. Who doesn’t like to come home and unwind by relaxing on the bathtub and drinking some wine while taking a nice hot shower? Our bathroom is our own little space where most people, especially parents, have their alone time. One of the best pros of remodeling your bathroom, especially the master bathroom is that you get to choose the style that best fits you. I remembered when I remodeled my restroom and it was the best feeling in the world choosing the tile and cabinets for my restroom to the type of fixtures as well. The hardest part was choosing the types of materials for the restroom because I didn’t know if I wanted a more earthy feel to it or a modern feel to it. You can also get inspiration from vacations or hotels you visited, but let me tell you bathroom remodels are worth it! The price range is usually as low as $5,000 upwards of $20,000 or even more depending on the scope of work and materials. 56+ Modern Bathroom Ideas – YouTube
  1. Cons of bathroom remodel: One of the cons for a bathroom remodel is that you won’t have too much privacy especially if you remodel in your master bathroom. You will have to move stuff around and depending on the size of your home, you might have to use the same bathroom as your kids and let’s be honest, it’s not the cleanest. Another con is that your partner might not have the same taste of style as yours and I have seen multiple arguments with the type of material going to be used in a bathroom especially in a master bathroom. Another con is the price, and to be fair a bathroom remodel shouldn’t be as expensive but it will all come down to the type of materials you would like and the square footage of the restroom. I have seen bathroom remodels as high as $20,000 for a simple master bathroom due to the materials and different types of fixtures and their brands.
  1. Pros of remodeling the inside home: To sum up the pros of remodeling the inside of your house first would be the style, affordability, and use of your home. Many homeowners would rather much be inside their home and rarely go outside their backyard. I have also seen many homeowners who love their backyard and host parties or get into gardening. The inside of your home is where memories are also made with holidays spent inside to birthdays as well. To be honest most homeowners spend time more inside than outside but there are many more pros than cons to remodel the outside!
  1. Cons of remodeling your inside home first: One of the cons of remodeling the inside of your home first would be the cost. There are many factors when you are remodeling the inside of your home such as windows, paint, tile, cabinets, fixtures, carpet, and many more. The cost would vary between each material but the bigger your home is and the better quality of material you would like, the cost will go up. I have seen homeowners spend anywhere from $20,000 to $130,000 just to remodel the inside of their home. Many factors included remodeling the kitchen and living rooms, bathrooms, and painting the inside again. I do have to say that their home looked amazing when they were done remodeling the inside. They invited me over to remodel their driveway and when they showed me the inside of their home, I was amazed! They added marble floors and their kitchen had a new bigger island counter with new fresh paint in the house. I can go on and on but let me tell you what they told me! They said that the driveway was the last on their to do list and that the inside remodel lasted four months! FOUR MONTHS! I remembered when the wife came out and gave him a look, “she ate more pizza than she ever had in her life with this remodel.” So if you are planning to remodel the inside first, here are the takeaways: The cost will be high, there won’t be much privacy, you won’t eat home made meals as much, there will be too much noise, and many more! 2. Cons of Remodeling your backyard: There are not many cons when it comes to remodeling your backyard because sometimes a remodel is needed because of necessity. So let’s start with some of the cons when it comes to remodeling your backyard, and that would be the price. So we are going to be honest here in 2023 and say that inflation is sky high and the price for construction materials has doubled! Depending on the type of materials you would want to remodel your backyard with, I would recommend getting it done because you never know if the price will be higher within the next month! Another con which really isn’t a con is privacy. Construction in the backyard is relatively much faster depending on the type of work being done so even though you will have a crew in your backyard, they won’t be inside!
  3. Pros of remodeling your backyard: Like I said, there are more pros than cons when it comes to remodeling your backyard. Some of the pros are affordability with certain types of materials such as concrete. Another pro would be making your backyard look much more interesting by adding a pool, landscape, and masonry. Another pro would be hosting parties and events in your backyard to entertain friends and family. Another pro would be making your backyard look much more bigger than it is by removing certain unnecessary obstacles. Another pro which is my favorite would be not doing any maintenance in your backyard such as cutting grass or raking leaves. We have all been there, where we are too tired or lazy to clean the backyard and would rather much rest. 100 Simple Small Backyard Ideas | Beautiful Backyard Landscaping – YouTube

So at the end of the day, it would be your choice to remodel the inside or outside of your home. But take certain factors into consideration such as privacy, price, convenience, and time. Remodeling your backyard or front yard can add to the curb appeal and increase property value. Remodeling the inside can also increase property value but it comes at a greater cost. So, what will you do?
